Primary DIY Day
When: Saturday 10th October: 9.30 am - 4.30 pm (TBC)
Where: Primary School - meet in the Primary Courtyard (see school map)
Parking: Main car park (see school map)
As parents we try and support the school and improve the surroundings for the children and staff, by doing some of the jobs that might otherwise not get done. This year we are going to have an initial 'DIY day' (this event), and also an ongoing opportunity to get jobs done on other Saturday mornings.
Last year parents helped with a range of jobs, including painting doors, fixing WC locks, cleaning the dining room chairs, unblocking gutters, fixing shed roofs, deep cleaning toilets and floors, cleaning windows and paintwork, sweeping and clearing playgrounds, decorating toilets, putting up new coat hooks, and repairing outdoor notice boards.
Potential jobs this year include: repairs to playground equipment, cleaning and decorating toilets (perhaps boxing in some pipes), repairs to shed roofs, building some raised beds in the Reception classes garden, putting up shelves, sweeping and clearing in the playgrounds. If there's anything you would like to suggest or would particularly like to volunteer for please message me on Classlist, or email me on [email protected].
People normally bring their own DIY / gardening tools and cleaning things. We will try and arrange paint and other materials where needed, so please let us know if you have any paint, materials, brushes etc. you can bring with you / donate.
We’re planning a morning session 9.30am - 12.30pm, and an afternoon session 1.30pm to 4.30 pm. Any and all help is much appreciated - even if you can only make it for an hour or two. We will arrange tea, coffee and other refreshments during each session. (If you could select the free 'tickets' on the event it will allow us to plan for numbers).
If you need / want to bring your children, please ensure they are adequately supervised - as there will be tools, paint and cleaning chemicals around.
