The Schuman Hall will be filled with stalls, each representing a country. Children can wander around under supervision of their teachers and learn about new or familiar countries. |
We need adults to set up and run stalls
Sign up here if you're able to run a stall or help out in some other way! If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected] Stall Ideas We would like you to showcase a country of your choice. This can be the country you grew up in, or a country you have visited, or any other country you are interested in. You do not need to be a national of your chosen country! At your stall, you could:
Whatever you do, please bear in mind that each group (about five children per group, TBC) will have a maximum of ten minutes at your stall, so please keep activities brief. Stalls offering bite-sized food have been particularly popular with children. If you decide to offer food, please remember the no-nut policy. Also, remember we have 18 primary classes with up to 30 children each, that's just over 500 kids to feed - though you are only like to have around 200 visiting your stall over the course of the day! On Google Images (search for “International Day at school”) you can find plenty of inspiration for stalls and how to present them. We encourage stallholders to wear traditional costumes from the country they present. It lends colour to the event and is a great talking point. Maybe the children can try on parts of a costume? Sign up to help out! Date and Times International Day 2020 will take place on Friday, 1st May during school hours. The first classes will visit the Schuman Hall from 8.45 am, the last class will leave around 2.15 pm. Your stall needs to be manned during these times. We believe it would be a good idea to join forces with fellow parents, so you can take turns, or simply nip out and have a cup of tea to regenerate. You will be able to set up your stall on Thursday, 30th April or, if you prefer, on 1st May in the morning. The Schuman Hall will be open from 8 am. Practicalities Your stall will consist of two tables and two chairs. You can use the wall of the Schuman Hall to affix a background, but please remember there is a lot of P.E. gear spread around, which will make use of the wall limited and difficult. To overcome this problem, many stall holders of previous International Days have brought in their own background mounts, such as white board holders, clothes racks etc. Be creative! (A background is not mandatory, of course. You can simply choose not to have one.) Please bring everything you need to set up, such as Sellotape, pins, duct tape for securing cables, scissors, Blu tack, table cloths, background mount etc. Parking for stallholders will be provided. If you need a trolley to transport your goods to the Schuman Hall, let us know. Please remember to sign in and out at reception when coming or leaving. Bring your own bin bag, dustpan and brush, wet wipes or whatever method you are partial to, to clean up your stall area at the end of the day. The PTA will provide tea and biscuits, but please bring your own packed lunch and drink. If you can help for a short time only This is also appreciated! We are looking for people to usher children through the Schuman Hall on the day, or you can help a lone stallholder to man their stall for a bit and support them. Sign up here! |
